THE FAMILY THAT SERVES GOD

GEN 2:21-25

INTRODUCTION:

1.God is the creator of the family life through our first parents, Adam and Eve Gen 2:18, 18; gen 1:26, 28

  1. He created them with a definite mandate as reflected in gen 1:28. We are created for his glory- is 43:7, Col 1:16
  2. That invariable becomes the mandate to families and humanity as we study this topic may god help our families to arise unto goodly and godly service of the lord in Jesus name

THE FAMILY

The family, which essentially is nucleus comprises of the father mother and the children- both biological and adopted, are so formed or constituted to live for and serve god. Eph 6:1-2. To serve means:

  1. To work for;
  2. To do your duty
  3. To help achieve something or to be useful as something

GODS EXPECTATION

God thus expects every family to;

  1. Work for him as duty; remember the children of Issachar- 1 Chro. 7:5, 1 Chro. 12:32
  2. Help fulfill gods mandate to humanity on earth, with the family serving as the instrument for accomplishing such tasks. 2 kings 4:8-14

Criteria’s for serving the Lord effectively

  1. The individuals in the family must first be born again- john 3:3, 7, 1:12, and be with him- mark 3:14
  2. The family must serve God, only after receiving power, since spiritual assignment requires spiritual power- Acts 1:8, Luke 24:49

The nature of the service

  1. The service requires our totality – Deut 6:5, Matthew 22:37, Deut 11:13, Psalm 119:10, 1 Samuel 12:24
  2. The work is an unending work. we must keep increasing and up scaling in our service to god- 1 Cor 15:8, Col 3:23-24, Phil 3:13-14
  3. It is a service with reward from god- gal 6:9, matt 25:21
